My journey with the earth began long before I understood its power to transform lives.

As a young boy growing up in Africa, I walked alongside my mother to the farm every day. Under the vast sky, with soil beneath our feet and tools in our hands, we laboured together—planting, weeding, harvesting—doing whatever it took to feed our family. Those early mornings taught me more than agriculture. They taught me resilience, the rhythm of seasons, and the profound truth that food is freedom.

Throughout my secondary school years, I continued practising those manual skills, deepening my connection to the land. But I wanted to understand more—the science behind the seeds, the secrets of the soil, the systems that could transform subsistence into sustainability. So I enrolled at university in Liberia, where I earned my degree in Agronomy, merging generations of traditional knowledge with modern agricultural science.

In 2000, I migrated to the United Kingdom, carrying with me not just dreams, but dirt under my fingernails and purpose in my heart. For over 20 years, I have cultivated food on an allotment in the UK—season after season, crop after crop—proving that no matter where you are in the world, you can grow your own sustenance, independence, and hope.

Today, I stand at the intersection of experience and urgency. I've witnessed firsthand the fragility of our global food systems—the rising costs, the supply chain disruptions, the growing gap between population and production. With over 8 billion people on this planet and climate change reshaping our reality, we are running out of time.

But here's what I know with absolute certainty: we don't have to wait for governments, corporations, or miracles. The solution is as ancient as humanity itself—growing our own food. And it's not just for farmers. It's for teachers, students, retirees, parents, city dwellers, and dreamers. It's for you.
